Music

At Propeller Academy, we desire to integrate music into our everyday learning activities, as well as provide exceptional instructional and performance opportunities. In addition to daily worship at Elevate, our students will participate in a music education class which will inspire creativity through learning about types of music, music theory and how to sing as a part of a choir.

We plan to partner with Schmitt Music and Strike Up The Band to create a quality instrumental music program for our school.
We also plan to open this service to area Christian home school students.

Schmitt Music began the Strike Up The Band program in 1965 to bring music to metro area children in private and parochial schools where a full-time band director was not feasible. In 1992 the program expanded to help home school families allow their children to participate in group music. Let us help give your children the experience of learning to play a band or orchestra instrument. Weekly group lessons, weekly band / orchestra rehearsal and concert performances provide the group music experience so important to every child’s complete education! We also offer learning opportunities for those interested in guitar and voice.

Orchestra

Based upon interest, the orchestra program begins in second grade. The first year concentrates on learning the basics about violin, viola or cello through private lessons. Private lessons are held during the regular school day, and the fee’s are paid directly to Schmitt Music. The estimated cost is $25 for lessons, plus the monthly rental of each students instrument. (Students enrolled in this option receive a 50% discount on instrument rentals. The rental fee is $20 per instrument). Typically, as students advance in skills, a 45 minute weekly group ensemble is added in their second year of study. Speak directly to Schmitt Music for questions on instrument rentals.

Band

Based upon interest, the band program begins in fourth grade. This program is open to area home school students. Students are encouraged to select an instrument that they are interested in, with the advice of their band director. The students will receive a group lesson (4-5 students) and a 45 minute band practice each week.

Group lessons are held during the regular school day, and the fee’s are paid directly to Schmitt Music. The estimated cost is $49 for group lessons and band rehearsal , plus the monthly rental of each students instrument. (Students enrolled in this option receive a 50% discount on instrument rentals. The rental fee is $20 per instrument, with the exception of a few instruments like French Horn and Alto Saxophones – which rent for $40 a month. Concerts and Musicals

The students at Propeller Academy will present age appropriate concerts and musicals throughout the school year. These endeavors will provide the opportunity for parents to actively participate with their students.

Theater

Throughout the year, our students will learn how to communicate in front of audiences. There is a lot of skill involved in creating great performances and learning how to delivery messages to audiences. We will constantly try to make this process engaging, creative and inspiring. Classroom and school activities can include acting, speaking, puppetry, storytelling, and other theater skills. The sky is the limit on what our students create!

Creative Movement & Dance

Music and movement go together at Propeller Academy. From choreography to enhance performance, to special dance classes like Latin and hip-hop, our students will have the opportunity to learn how to express themselves through creative movement.
